I teach Music and Drama in a rural high school. There are a LOT of benefits to being a teacher in an Arts Department....
  • You can wear just about anything and the other teachers will just shake their heads and mumble something about the 'artsy style'
  • You get to laugh (sometimes really hard) almost every day
  • Your students are just as right-brained and crazy as you are.
  • Nobody questions your judgement, because nobody else in the school knows what the heck you do.
  • You get to be at the school long before anyone else gets there and long after everyone else leaves.

I hear and say things everyday that cause me to do one of the following:
  1. Laugh uncontrollably
  2. Try REALLY hard not to laugh uncontrollably.
  3. Stifle myself with every ounce of control I possess.
  4. Raise an eyebrow (well...both, really; I don't have the 'one eyebrow' skill)
  5. shake my head and point to the door.
I'm sure there are more...give me time.

I thought I would start writing this stuff down. I don't want to look back in 15 years and think, "This kid once said this really funny thing in Drama class in 2013, but I can't remember what it was." I already sound nuts to most people, and that won't help.

I am going to rummage through my memory and start by writing things I remember, and then start updating as they happen. I will not use names, to protect the innocent (and sometimes slightly guilty) and I'll set up any quotes that might need it.

Hope you enjoy!
